Managing Director

After many years of faithful service to CYT, Denise has informed the board of her intention to step down from her role as Managing Director.  We are beginning an immediate search for her replacement, and she has agreed to stay on until that replacement can be found and properly trained and transitioned into the role. 

The Managing Director works in partnership with the Artistic Director and is responsible for building an effective team internally and cultivating a committed team to act externally in the community at large, as well as generating, directing and supervising all aspects of finance, operations, marketing, general administration, and human resources. The Managing Director will ensure the integrity of the financial, operational and internal control processes and policies for the organization as well as manage the day-to-day operations alongside the staff.

Director of Development

The Director of Development at Christian Youth Theater (CYT) Santa Cruz is responsible for setting and achieving fundraising goals for the organization, growing the donor base, and developing long-term relationships within the community. Duties include planning fundraising events, maintaining relationships with current donors to encourage ongoing support, and seeking out opportunities for both individual and corporate support.

CYT Teaching Artists

CYT Teaching Artists are confident in their skills and abilities, both as a leader and a team player, and are able to infuse every class with character developing theater arts training. CYT offers theater classes for students ages 4-18, covering a variety of topics. Classes are held once a week for 10 weeks in the Fall, Winter, and Spring, and are 2 hours long for all students. These class topics include, but are not limited to:
  • Auditioning
  • Dance
  • Drama
  • Musical Theater
  • Specialty (Stage Makeup, Puppetry, Stunts and Combat, etc.)
  • Technical Theater (Lighting, Set Design, Prop Making, Stage Management, etc.)
  • Voice
CYT's goal is that every student leaves their class not only feeling more confident in their performing arts skills, but also in who they were created to be. CYT is committed to providing excellent theater training by staying informed of National VAPA (Visual and Performing Arts) standards. CYT hires qualified Teaching Arts and Artistic Teams who consistently elevate our students’ knowledge of theater arts. CYT Artistic Teams

CYT Artistic Team members (Directors, Choreographers, Musical Directors) are confident in their skills and abilities, both as a leader and a team player, and are able to infuse every rehearsal with character developing theater arts training. CYT offers audition opportunities to students currently enrolled in classes between the ages of 8-18. Rehearsals are held twice a week on Friday evenings and Saturday mornings. The rehearsal process and show weekends wrap up after about 10 weeks total. The shows coincide with the class sessions, occurring every Fall, Winter, and Spring, with occasional opportunities during some Summer sessions as well.
